But yes, I can see how that kind of thing would make any normal, sane, grown-up person run screaming for the hills.

To me, it feels a bit like a tamagochi or other virtual pet-thing - something you can endlessly futz with to no real purpose, with the added advantage of being able to get your friends to do likewise, when what they should be doing is the washing-up or their homework.

In response to:You've got a friend

I'm afraid that I still don't get the whole Facebook and MySpace phenomenon. Like many others I joined both for a short while, got snowed under by a blizzard of unsolicted "Will you be my friend" Emails from 13 year olds the globe over who obviously have bulkmailing skills (or perhaps the perspicacity to see how cool it would be to have a 52 year old git like me as some kind of "dodgy-not-really-my-uncle type friend". No? Didn't think so!).
I hightailed it outta there after a short while because I felt rather over exposed.

In response to:You've got a friend

I'm afraid that I still don't get the whole Facebook and MySpace phenomenon. What sort of compost did you use?

And has it eaten anybody yet?

In response to:Plant problems

Ah, I remember my old Aloe Vera... For months it kept dying and redying on me, until I repotted it with some lovely new compost. Within a few weeks it was an uncontrollable beast equipped with razor sharp spines on each edge. So much so that it outgrew my windowledge and had to be released into the wild....

In response to:Something big in a small box

Thank you. Somehow though I don't think I'd leave that kind of impression. Oh well!

My condolences to you for your friend and his wife.

In response to:Something big in a small box

That's a lovely tribute!
